The Green Lake area was first surveyed in September of 1855 but wasn't settled until 1869 by a settler named Erhart Seifreid. A trolley line was extended in 1891 from Fremont all along the eastern shore and up to the northern end of Green Lake. This occurred during the same year that Green Lake was annexed to the city of Seattle.

There are plenty of sports leagues for both children and adults to join including kickball, roller derby, tennis, volleyball, flag football, dodgeball, boating, basketball, and more.
